Free pattern: Button Hat

FREE PATTERN
BUTTON HAT

NOVEMBER 2006

SIZE:I’ve made this hat for my almost 4 y/o, his headsize: 48 cm, but this is a very tight hat.

YARN:
Any yarn that give you this gauge: 14 st. x 20 rows on 4,5 dpns.
I used red and green (R and G)

AND:
4,5 mm dpns
crochethook
tapestryneedle
button

HOW TO MAKE IT:
CO 56 st, divide over 4 needles (14 each needle).
K2/P2 for 7 rounds in R.
Go on in st.st with the R and G, in spiral
18 rounds, counting from the rib.

Round 19: K1, K2tog, k the other st. on that needle.
Repeat this for the other 3 needles.

Decrease every 3th round like round 19.

Go on like this untill the’re 2 st left (I used only R in the last 7 rounds in the top)
Skip 1 st over the last, cut the yarn (long tail, so you can use it for the top AND to fasten the button), pull the yarn trough the last st.
Take you crochethook, make 10 st. and fasten it with a tapestryneedle in the round.

Choose a button, place it between two decreasing”stripes”.
Ready!
