My sock history

When did you start making socks?
I think it was around januari 2006

Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative?

My grandmother always knitted socks. Her whole life, she did not need to look at her 5 needles. Her husband and all her sons (6 of them) wear her socks. I think her daughters (5) did not wear them, will ask my mother about that one.
Because my grandma could knit so very fast, I always tought that knitting on 5 needles was impossible for me.
But I teached it myself, and it went well!
Its a pitty my grandmother never saw me knitting socks...

What was your first pair?


How have they "held up" over time?

Very well, I've made this pair for my son. And we washed it several times in the wasmachine and even put it in the dryer.
The're little bit felted and the colours are "droopy", but the stitches held up good!
His sister will wear them later on!

As you can tell, I'm totally into socks at the moment.
