Earflap hat for girls (2,4 and 6 years old)

Design: Ajoursteek, based on a pattern from “ariadne” 1967

Gauge: 23 st x 48 rows = 10 cm
Supplies: +/- 100 gram normal wool, needles 2,5 mm
Stitches used: garterstitch, stockingstitch
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together as one
Instructions:
Earflap
Cast on 3 st. and knit garterst. Cast on 1 st. every row, till 23 (25, 27) st. on the needle.
Put this st on hold.
Make second flap same way.
Cast on 35 extra st to the second flap, put the 23(25,27) st from the first flap on the needle and knit 1 row over 81(85,89) st.

Row 1 cast on 3 st in beginning of row
Row 2 “
Row 3 “
Row 4 “
Knit 4 more rows over 93(97,101) st.
Next row: purl (wrong side)
Go on in stocking st. till work is (in front measured) 11(12,13) cm long.
After 11(12,13) cm; go on in garterst. and decrease in row 1,6,12,18:

Row 1:
6 (8-10) k. *k2tog, 8 k.* repeat this, ends with 5 (7-9) st. instead of 8.
On the needle: 84(88-92) st.

Row 6:
3(5-7) k. *k2tog, 5 k. * repeat this, ends with 2(4-6) st. inst. of 5.
On the needle: 72 (76-80) st.

Row 12:
2(4-6) k. *k2tog, 1k, k2tog, 2k* repeat this BUT : 4 year old hat: ends with 4k inst. of 2k
6 year old hat: ends with 6k inst. of 2k
On the needle: 52 (56-60) st.

Row 18:
*K2tog* repeat this
On the needle: 26(28-30) st.

Row 19:
*K2tog* repeat this
Row 20:
Break yarn, pull throug 13(14-15) st. pull on tight, use the yarn for the backseam.
